CONSERVANCY RULES

THE CONSERVANCY

The Conservancy, an arm of the Millican Reserve Land Conservancy in Brazos County, Texas, is charged with being a steward of the land resources at Millican Reserve. In this role, it provides outdoor educational and recreational resources and collaborates with community partners to share a vision of building healthy community around nature.

The Conservancy offers varying levels of paid membership as a means of supporting its mission. All Members of the Conservancy have agreed to follow the Rules promulgated by the Conservancy, as updated from time to time.

 

GENERAL CONSERVANCY RULES

Access

  1. Millican Reserve is private property and is not open to the general public.
  2. Limited access to Millican Reserve is granted to Conservancy Members pursuant to the Conservancy Rules.
  3. Members may not bring non-members to Millican Reserve.
  4. Minors must be accompanied by an adult Member at all times.
  5. Anyone found trespassing at Millican Reserve will be prosecuted.

Liability

  1. All Members are fully responsible for themselves (and accompanied minors) while at Millican Reserve and assume all risk of loss or damage to person or property.
  2. All Members (and accompanied minors) must provide the Conservancy with an executed copy of the most recent Millican Reserve comprehensive liability waiver document (Hold Harmless, Indemnity, and Liability Release; COVID-19/Communicable Disease Release; Media Release, and Email Opt-In Agreement) prior to accessing the property and trail system.

Use

  1. Members may access authorized areas of Millican Reserve only.
  2. Members must observe all notifications and posted signs.
  3. Members must observe all published rules (including Trail Rules) as modified from time to time.
  4. Littering is expressly prohibited.
  5. All pets must be safely controlled on a leash and with owner. Additional pet rules may apply.
  6. Feeding wildlife is prohibited.
  7. Lakes and ponds, if accessible at all, are only accessible from the shore; swimming and personal watercraft are expressly prohibited except by special permit.
  8. Interference with any other activities occurring at Millican Reserve is not allowed.
  9. No glass containers, drugs, alcohol or firearms are allowed on premises.
  10. Parking is only allowed in designated areas

Violations

  1. Membership in the Conservancy is revocable at any time and for any reason. Any Member who is not in compliance with all Conservancy Rules: (1) will be asked to leave the property, (2) may have Membership revoked, and (3) may be prosecuted.

COVID-19 NOTICE AND RULES

UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:

  • Trails and facilities may be closed at any time without advance notice.
  • Restrooms are closed. Make arrangements to use other restrooms before entering.
  • Maintenance and security may be limited or unavailable.
  1. DO NOT ENTER IF YOU ARE EXHIBITING SYMPTOMS OR FEELING ILL.
  2. Do not gather in groups, and avoid areas where groups may form.
  3. Keep a minimum of 6 feet between you and others at all times, including in the parking area and on the trails.
  4. Do not touch your face.
  5. Wash or sanitize your hands frequently.
  6. Wearing a mask is recommended to help avoid the spread of the disease.
  7. Carry water, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes to further protect yourself.

MEMBERSHIP RULES

The Conservancy Membership allows members to have limited access to the Millican Reserve trail system. This includes limited trail access for hiking, biking, and equestrian use. In addition to all other Conservancy Rules, Conservancy Members must observe the following rules:

ACCESS AND PARKING

General

  1. ACCESS IS LIMITED TO THE PARKING AREAS AND MARKED TRAIL SYSTEM ONLY. ALL OTHER AREAS ARE EXPRESSLY OFF-LIMITS.

Hiking and Biking

  1. For hiking and biking, Members may ONLY enter Millican Reserve at the Farm Entrance (19851 FM 2154).
  2. Members MUST PARK AT THE DESIGNATED PARKING AREA in the grassy area near the Farm ONLY. Millican Creek Trail is NOT an approved parking area.
  3. Members MAY NOT PROCEED past the Farm area in their vehicles.
  4. Members MAY NOT ENTER the Farm production areas at any time.
  5. MEMBERS SHOULD UNLOAD AND HIKE OR BIKE TO THE TRAIL SYSTEM FROM THE DESIGNATED PARKING AREA.
  6. MEMBERS MAY NOT LEAVE THE MARKED TRAILS AT ANY TIME.
  7. Members MUST OBSERVE all Trail Rules, as modified from time to time.

Horseback Riding

  1. For horseback riding, Members may ONLY enter Millican Reserve at the Farm Entrance (19851 FM 2154).
  2. BEFORE HAULING IN ANY HORSES, MEMBERS MUST COMMUNICATE WITH THE BARN MANAGER AND ARRANGE A TIME FOR CHECK-IN. EMAIL: stables@millicanreserve.com
  3. Members MUST HAUL IN AND UNLOAD HORSES in designated parking area ONLY.
  4. MEMBERS MAY NOT LEAVE THE MARKED TRAILS AT ANY TIME.
  5. Members MUST OBSERVE all Trail Rules, as modified from time to time.

Vehicles

  1. Members must have the make, model, and license plate number of all vehicles brought onto Millican Reserve on file with the Conservancy. Email: conservancy@millicanreserve.com

 

Trail Rules (effective May 2020)

EQUESTRIAN TRAIL RULES

  1. Trailhead is located at 19851 FM 2154; College Station, Texas 77845.
  2. Any horse brought onto Millican Reserve must have a copy of current negative coggins and check in with the Stables manager prior to arriving.
  3. Helmets are recommended.
  4. Riders are responsible for maintaining control over horses at all times.
  5. Help other trail users pass safely. Provide instructions when necessary.
  6. Equestrians are only allowed on the equestrian trails and ranch road.
  7. Move to the side of the trail to allow other trails users to pass safely.
  8. Access to trails is only available when trails are open, in good condition, and not wet. Reduce speed to pass safely.
  9. In general, ride dirt trails not mud trails. Riding on a mud trail damages the trail. It leaves ruts, contributes to erosion and creates an unridable, hard-to-repair trail surface.
  10. Stallions are not permitted.
